Our client eBay is turning 30, and we would like to extend our warmest congratulations!
As part of eBay Open on September 25, eBay celebrated its 30th anniversary with the motto “Driving Business – Since 1995.” Exciting topics included:
- eBay’s strategic direction
- the planned launch of eBay Live in Germany at the end of 2025
- the use of AI on eBay for buyers and sellers
- initiatives related to refurbished and pre-loved items
The event was opened by Jamie Iannone, CEO of eBay Inc., who traveled from San José especially for the occasion. In his review of 30 years of company history, he showed how eBay has supported businesses of all sizes since its founding—and how collaboration, innovation, and community continue to shape the development of the global marketplace to this day.

Later on, high-profile speakers offered exciting insights into the beginnings and future of digital commerce. Dr. Saskia Meier-Andrae, Managing Director of eBay Germany, and alando founder Jörg Rheinboldt recalled the early years of eBay in Germany. Dr. Sophie Florian from Google and Dr. Kai Hudetz from IFH Cologne looked to the future and presented new perspectives in e-commerce.
In addition, Yaël Meier, co-founder of the ZEAM agency, spoke under the motto “Generation Z(ukunft)” about the values and expectations that shape Gen Z and how companies should respond to them.
Among the presentations, the insights of Chief AI Officer Dr. Nitzan Mekel-Bobrov were particularly noteworthy, offering in-depth insights into the user-centered development of AI solutions at eBay.
Overall, the event was a joyful reunion for our colleagues Thomas Natkowski and Ole von Bachmann, who saw many familiar faces, including dedicated retailers such as Michael Atug, eBay employees such as Andreas Häntsch, Lisa Haak, and Dr. Tilmann Kuhla, as well as industry experts such as Dr. Kai Hudetz from IFH KÖLN and Dr. Sophie Florian from Google.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration with eBay Germany.
